Onsite Fuel Fired Heat Treatment
Stork Cooperheat supply specialised personnel and equipment to
carry out a wide range of heat treatment processes. This includes
post weld heat treatment of vessels, spheres and other
fabrications utilising Stork Cooperheat high velocity burners.
Various types and configurations may be post weld heat treated by
insulating the outside of the vessel with mineral wool then firing
internally, turning the sphere or vessel into its own furnace with
temperatures up to 700°C.
Thermocouples are used to accurately monitor the temperature
during heat treatment. The high velocity burners enable excellent
temperature distribution and uniformity at all times. The burners
also have the capacity to carry out solution annealing to
temperatures up to 1200°C.

When Internal firing is not a practical or cost
effective option a temporary furnace can be constructed at the
client’s site where the structure is fired externally with high
velocity burners. Alternatively Stork Cooperheat surface
combustion units can be used in many heat treatment applications,
the most common being the pre-heating of rotating vessels.
