Field NDT
Non-Destructive Evaluation methods are available on a call-out
basis or for long-term projects. When employed at critical stages
of the construction, manufacturing or fabrication process, Stork
Cooperheat's NDT (Non Destructive Testing) field services work to
optimize production and assure the quality of your finished
product.
Visual Inspection
Visual Inspection is one of the most cost-effective methods to
assess ongoing equipment reliability and typically is one of the
first methods of NDT. In addition, visual inspection serves as a
quality control and quality assurance function during the
fabrication of new equipment. Employing a multi-national skilled
workforce and advanced inspection equipment, Stork Cooperheat
offers both in-process and final visual inspection services,
helping you meet both project specification and code requirements.
Radiographic Testing
Radiography (x -ray) and gamma ray technology is an efficient,
reliable inspection method for NDT and identification of surface
and subsurface discontinuities.
SafeRad Radiography
The SafeRad Radiography system is extremely versatile and can
be used in directional panoramic and projection modes. The
system's versatility and flexibility are in part due to the
flexible GAMMABLOCK shielding and in part due the unique
engineering design. Typical radiation controlled area barriers are
1.5 m. There are no limitations on diameter or configuration of
the item to be inspected and with a capacity of up to 80 Curies of
Se75 a wide application is possible. Set up is simple with no
major retraining of technicians required. As the radiation
controlled area is very small this allows major cost benefits in
production during manufacturing and spanner work during plant
shutdowns.
Ultrasonic Testing
Frequently used in thickness, corrosion inspection and
examination of full penetration groove welds, ultrasonic is a
highly accurate NDT detection method that proves to be extremely
efficient in the field location due to the portability of the
equipment and the ability to evaluate and record results at the
time of inspection.
Magnetic Particle Inspection
One of the most sensitive means of detecting surface or near
surface defects in ferro magnetic material. Used to inspect plate
edges prior to welding, in process inspection of each weld pass or
layer, post weld evaluation and to inspect repairs.
Dye Penetrated Testing
Liquid (dye) penetrates remain one of most reliable, efficient
and cost effective methods for detecting flaws in the ferrous and
nonferrous materials. Two types of penetrates are used,
fluorescent and visible dye.
Hardness Testing
Want to know the hardness of a material, weld or component?
Was the heat treatment performed correctly? Stork Cooperheat has
an array of onsite field hardness testing equipment to answer
these questions. The units range from the dynamic type
microprocessor based Equotip in its variants, to the less
sophisticated, but reliable, first principle impact devices such
as Telebrineller and Poldi. Other units include Microdur, ARL and
King equipment. The true benefit of the field type unit is its
portability and immediate availability of results.
Ferrite Testing
Problems with ferrite content measurement? Stork Cooperheat
can help using portable sophisticated ferrite meters which give
digital results instantaneously, calibrated against Welding
Research Council calibration blocks. Calling in Stork Cooperheat
at an early stage can help prevent repeated repairs, which being
undesirable at any time, are detrimental to any stainless steel
thus avoiding additional cost and time involvement.
Vacuum Box Testing
This NDT method covers procedures for detecting or locating
leaks, where quantitative measure is not practical. The technique
is applicable to any test specimen on which a pressure
differential can be created across the area to be examined. It is
most useful on piping systems, pressure vessels and storage tanks.
Stork Cooperheat’s main field of NDT expertise is in the
inspection of welds on floor and annular plates of bulk storage
tanks in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical environments.
Holiday Testing
Holiday testing is applicable to the detection of
discontinuities in non conductive coatings on metallic substrates.
Where coatings have to provide an effective safeguard against
corrosion, it is essential that any pinholes or flaws that will
eventually lead to corrosion are detected at the earliest possible
stage.
Positive Material Identification (PMI)
Stork Cooperheat offers an in situ materials identification
service utilising the latest available portable equipment onsite
at your fabrication shop, yard or project site. With experienced
and certified technical staff, Stork Cooperheat can solve your
problem with a range of advanced spectroscopic analysis
instruments.
